ExxonMobil and Occidental Petroleum remain the leading operators in Permian Basin, according to the latest report by Enverus. In its summary of North American rig activity as of Oct. 17, Enverus said the latest weekly average for Exxon in Permian was 34.9 rigs followed by Occidental’s 20.3. Other leaders include Mewbourne Oil with 13.9 rigs, EOG with 13.7, Diamondback and ConocoPhillips each with 13.0, Permian Resources with 12.0 and Devon with 10.3.
As of Oct. 3, there were 86 frac crews in Permian compared to 88 the previous week and 107 a year ago. Across the U.S., there were 149 frac crews compared to 152 the previous week and 189 a year ago. And Permian remains the DUC well leader (drilled but uncompleted) with 2,064 – up from 2,005 the previous week but down from 2,595 a year ago). Across the U.S., there were 3,978 DUC wells compared to 3,883 the previous week and 5,133 a year ago.
ExxonMobil is the U.S. leader in active rig count with a weekly average of 36.9 as of Oct. 17 followed by Occidental with 25.3, ConocoPhillips with 24.0, EOG with 21.7 and Mewbourne Oil with 20.7. Enverus said Exxon is the only operator among the top 10 in the U.S. reporting more active drilling rigs than a year ago (up 9 percent from 33.7 a year ago).
