James C. (Jim) Henry, 89, former chairman of Petroleum Basin Petroleum Association and recipient of its Top Hand Award, died Oct. 17. A graduate of University of Oklahoma and U.S. Air Force veteran, he started his career in the oil and gas industry in the 1950s with Humble Oil and Refining in Texas and Skelly Oil in Oklahoma.
Ben Sheppard, PBPA president, said, “Jim wanted the PBPA to be strong like the Permian Basin, and he put a great deal of his time, talent and treasure into pursuing those goals. All of that is on top of his professional successes in the industry. The success of the Henry companies rivals any of the operators in the history of the Permian Basin.”
