New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham recently signed an executive order directing state agencies to convert to all-electric vehicles within 12 years. The Democratic governor also said she will pursue tax credits for electric vehicles in the next session of the state’s legislature. Lujan Grisham made the announcements Oct. 16 in Santa Fe at a transportation symposium.
“We will pursue EV tax credits in the upcoming legislative session to make EVs more accessible and more affordable for all,” the governor said. “I also directed the state to ‘walk the walk’ by transitioning to a zero-emission vehicle fleet by 2035.”
Associated Press reported exceptions to the governor’s order include law enforcement vehicles, firefighting trucks and some other heavy-duty vehicles.
