Job growth continues in Texas and its oil and gas industry. Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association reported nearly 12,000 active job listings in September and more than 4,500 new job posts. Texas Workforce Commission reported 61,400 new jobs in September and 435,000 additional jobs since last September in the state.
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said Texas led the nation in job growth last month and for the last year. U.S. nonfarm employment topped 14 million at 14,049,400 (seasonally adjusted to 15,141,300). Employment among nine of the 11 major industries expanded in September. Gov. Greg Abbott said, “We are America’s jobs leader because Texas moves at the speed of business, cutting red tape and getting out of the way so businesses thrive, jobs grow and Texans prosper.”
TIPRO president Ed Longanecker added, “Texas continues to lead the nation in energy production. Year-to-date through July 2023, Texas oil production accounted for more than 43 percent of all oil production in the U.S.”
