Midstream operators connected 3,524 oil and gas wells to gathering systems in the U.S. during second quarter, according to data from the most recent issue of Midstream Pulse. That’s up slightly from 3,447 wells connected during Q1 and flat compared to 2022. The most active region was Permian Basin with 1,435 new well connects followed by Rocky Mountains with 694 and Gulf Coast with 645.
Among gas-gathering operators, Targa Resources was the leader in well connects with 610 followed by DCP Midstream with 345 and Energy Transfer with 266. Plains All American connected the most wells to oil gathering systems with 260 followed by NuStar with 145, Medallion Midstream with 121 and Energy Transfer with 115.
