Houston-based Aris Water Solutions said recently it received a research grant from U.S. Department of Energy to continue its study of treatment and desalination of produced water as an irrigation source for non-consumptive agriculture. Amanda Brock, president and CEO, said Dec. 14, “We continue to lead collaborative industry efforts to identify and pilot differentiated technologies to treat produced water for various applications, including agriculture, mineral extraction, industrial processes and aquifer replenishment. This grant … will help further enhance our treatment capabilities.”
With the grant Aris will expand its greenhouse study with Texas A&M AgriLife, which uses treated and desalinated produced water to grow cotton and grasses.
Aris Water Solutions provides full-cycle water handling and recycling, and its integrated pipelines and infrastructure deliver solutions to operators in core areas of Permian Basin.
