Dallas-based Energy Transfer said last week it will construct an intrastate natural gas pipeline to provide transportation from Permian Basin to premier markets and trading hubs to serve growing demand. The company said Dec. 6 the project will “further establish Energy Transfer as the premier option to support power plant and data center growth in the state of Texas.”
The new large-diameter pipeline, previously named Warrior, is being renamed Hugh Brinson pipeline. It will be constructed in two phases for a total cost of $2.7 billion. Phase I will include about 400 miles of 42-inch pipeline with capacity of 1.5 billion cfd extending from Waha in west Texas to Maypearl south of DFW, where it will connect to Energy Transfer’s pipeline and storage infrastructure. Energy Transfer also will construct a Midland lateral to connect Energy Transfer and third-party processing plants in Martin and Midland counties to Hugh Brinson pipeline.
