U.S. Energy Information Administration said recently that U.S. crude oil production will continue to increase in 2025 while U.S. refiners process less crude oil than they did last year. That will lead to a decline in net imports of crude oil of more than 20 percent to 1.9 million barrels per day in 2025 – the nation’s least annual net imports of crude oil since 1971.
In its Short-Term Energy Outlook of Dec. 10, EIA said total U.S. crude oil production is forecast to increase by 300,000 b/d in 2025, and U.S. refineries are expected to process 200,000 b/d less crude oil in 2025 – down to 16.0 million b/d.
