Houston-based Kinder Morgan, one of the world’s largest energy infrastructure companies, said this week it made final investment decision to develop the $1.7 billion Trident intrastate natural gas pipeline. The 216-mile pipeline will deliver 1.5 Bcfd from Katy to the Port Arthur area. Underpinned by long-term contracts, it is expected to be in service in 2027Q1.
Kim Dang, CEO, said Wednesday, “For several quarters now, we have pointed to expected significant new natural gas demand for LNG, power plants and emerging opportunities such as artificial intelligence operations, cryptocurrency mining, data centers and industrial reshoring. These expectations are being realized.”
Also Wednesday Kinder Morgan said its natural gas transport volumes were flat in fourth quarter compared to 2023Q4. For the year, gathering volumes were up 6 percent compared to 2023. Total refined products volumes were up 2 percent.
