Matador, San Mateo Midstream reach startup of Marlan plant in Eddy County

June 3, 2025 by PBOG Leave a Comment

Dallas-based Matador Resources and affiliate San Mateo Midstream last week announced startup of an expansion of San Mateo’s Marlan cryogenic natural gas processing plant in Delaware Basin.  The expansion adds 200 million cfd of natural gas capacity to the plant in Eddy County, N.M., to bring total capacity to 260 million cfd.

Joseph Wm. Foran, chairman and CEO, said May 29, “The increased processing capacity at the Marlan plant should allow San Mateo to continue to provide Matador with reliable flow assurance in our Ranger and Antelope Ridge asset areas in Lea County.”

The expanded plant supports Matador’s development in Eddy and northern Lea County, N.M., and existing third-party producer development plant, and it allows San Mateo to pursue additional third-party volumes.  The company’s midstream system now has a total gas processing capacity of 720 million cfd in Eddy and Lea counties.

The current operations of Matador, independent energy company, are focused on the oil- and liquids-rich portions of Wolfcamp and Bone Spring plays in Delaware Basin in eastern New Mexico and west Texas.
