Employment in the nation’s energy services sector declined in June for the third consecutive month, according to the Energy Workforce and Technology Council. The report issued last week detailed a decline in June to 635,077 jobs – a loss of 3,153 positions from May. Data from Bureau of Labor Statistics analyzed by the council for its report showed 309,473 jobs in Texas, 53,029 in Louisiana, 48,329 in Oklahoma, 25,784 in Colorado and 23,752 in New Mexico.
Molly Determann, Energy Workforce president, told Midland Reporter Telegram, “Companies are making strategic decisions in response to rapidly changing economic forces. The Dallas Fed’s recent findings reflect a market that is shaped by tariff uncertainty, shifting global demand and fluctuating oil prices… The foundation of our industry remains strong. Many companies are continuing to invest in both domestic and international production and are positioning themselves for long-term growth… These shifts also reflect the ongoing industrialization of the sector where companies are embracing greater efficiency, technology and scalability.”
