Tulsa-based ONEOK said recently it will add to its natural gas processing capacity in Permian Basin with construction of a new plant in Delaware Basin and relocation of an existing plant from north Texas to the Midland Basin. ONEOK is relocating its Shadowfax plant (capacity 150 million cfd) to west Texas by 2026Q1.
The new Bighorn plant (capacity 300 million cfd) will be built at a cost of $365 million and equipped to treat gas volumes with high concentrations of carbon dioxide. It is scheduled for completion in mid 2027 to bring ONEOK’s gas processing capacity in Delaware Basin to 1.1 Bcfd from current 700 million cfd. There also be upgrades of 75 million cfd to existing facilities in Delaware.
Pierce H. Norton II, president and CEO, said Aug. 6, “The Permian Basin continues to be a key area of strategic growth for us, and we will continue to be actively engaged and intentional in assessing opportunities to expand and enhance our integrated operations within the basin.”
At the end of 2Q, ONEOK’s average process volumes of natural gas across Permian was 1.48 million cfd – up from 1.42 million cfd at the end of 1Q.
