Thai House is casual and easy. The menu is simple, the staff friendly. There are fried rice dishes, noodle plates, salads, spring and egg rolls, bao, house specials… everything you’d expect to find at a Thai restaurant. I chose the Spicy Curry Chicken and my husband chose the Thai House Special. We chose our amount of spice—Thai Spice, in our case—which is their maximum heat level. I was skeptical to order my curry, since I have a very particular palate concerning the dish. I don’t like it too sweet. The coconut milk can make or break a recipe. I felt that the Thai House version was just right, savory with notes of sweet on the backend of each bite. The dish was spicy and fresh. The chicken and rice were tender, and the vegetables were bright with just the right amount of crisp. Thai spice heat packs a punch. I was pleasantly surprised, but it’s not for the faint of heart. My husband’s dish was a mixture of chicken and fresh vegetables over a bed of rice with a fried egg. It was basically my dish without the curry sauce (he hates coconut milk). He made the mistake of adding quite a bit of siracha to his dish before taking a bite. The two heats combined had him sneezing with watery eyes, but he managed to catch his breath long enough to tell me it was great. I’m happily adding Thai House into my rotation of favorite local restaurants. —Shanti Terry
