Houston-based Freeport LNG Development said Aug. 20 it has started producing LNG from Train 1 at Quintana Island. McDermott International and engineering and construction partners Chiyoda International and Zachry Group said longterm contractual deliveries will begin next month after commissioning cargoes are exported. Trains 2 and 3 remain on schedule to begin operations in 2019Q4 and 2020Q1 with total capacity of 15 million tonnes per year.
Mark Coscio, senior vice president of McDermott, said, “When a facility starts producing a product, it is always a notable achievement, especially for large-scale projects such as Freeport LNG.”
