Houston Chronicle said Monday that Midland pipeline operator Oryx Midstream bought Targa Resources’ crude oil gathering pipelines and storage terminals in Permian Basin for $135 million. The Chronicle said Oryx is “the largest privately-held crude oil pipeline and storage terminal operator in the Permian Basin” with more than 1,200 miles of pipeline and 2.1 million barrels of storage (before the deal). Crude oil gathering – the use of smaller pipelines to move crude oil from a remote well to larger pipelines or storage terminals – makes up a small portion of business for Houston-based Targa.
