Houston-based Primus Green Energy and an unidentified global petrochemical company awarded a contract to Houston-based IHI E&C International Corp. for a front-end engineering and design study for a first-of-its-kind natural gas-to-gasoline plant in Texas. The proposed plant will consume 28 MMcfd of natural gas to produce 2,800 b/d gasoline. Primus said Dec. 11 the plant will be a scaled-up version of its demonstration plant in Hillsborough, N.J., and will produce RBOB-specification gasoline using low-cost natural gas from the Permian Basin. The study is scheduled to be completed in mid-2020.
