Austin-based Parsley Energy completed its acquisition of Jagged Peak Energy of Denver and filed 12 drilling permits with the Railroad Commission of Texas. Parsley announced closing of the sale Jan. 10, and Jan. 21 Houston Chronicle reported the 12 permits – 8 horizontal wells in the Phantom field of Wolfcamp on leases in Reeves and Winkler counties and 4 horizontal wells in Spraberry formation in Upton County. The merged companies have a combined 266,000 acres of leases with 15 drilling rigs and a 2020 capital budget of up to $1.8 billion.
