San Antonio companies Mirage Energy and Northern Hemisphere Logistics said June 17 they secured funding from Bluebell International for development of natural gas pipelines from Texas to Mexico, 786 bcf of underground storage and the Isthmus corridor liquids transportation project. The announcement said Mirage’s natural gas storage facility will be “the largest natural gas storage facility on the North American continent” – giving the country of Mexico a six months’ supply. The Isthmus project is a series of pipelines and storage facilities connecting Gulf of Mexico and Pacific ports to provide “a faster, more economical means of delivering crude oil and refined products from the U.S. to Asia, Mexico and the west coast of the U.S. compared to using the Panama Canal or the Cape Horn route” (reportedly saves 36 days of shipping to Asia).
