Crude oil from Permian Basin was loaded July 16 on the first marine vessel to launch from South Texas Gateway, a new state-of-the-art terminal in Ingleside at Port of Corpus Christi. Four pipelines serve South Texas Gateway developed by Buckeye Partners, a leading global terminal operator that owns 50 percent of the terminal. Phillips 66 Partners and Marathon Petroleum own 25 percent each. Initial storage capacity is 8.6 million barrels.
“The loading of this vessel with crude from the Permian Basin is a sign that the economic downturn is changing direction,” Sean Strawbridge, CEO of Port of Corpus Christi, said. Marine operations are expected to accelerate through the end of 2020 as additional phases of construction are completed.
