Tulsa-based WPX Energy said Nov. 2 in its quarterly financial report that it now has 2 completion crews working in Delaware Basin after releasing all four of its crews in 2020Q2 in response to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on energy demand and oil prices. WPX said production in Delaware Basin in 2020Q3 averaged 139,100 boed compared to 143,700 boed in 2020Q2 and 96,700 boed in 2019Q3. The year-over-year increase was attributed to WPX’s purchase of Felix Energy. WPX completed 13 wells in Delaware in 2020Q3 with what it called “promising results” from delineation work in various Bone Spring benches. Enverus said WPX plans to focus 2021 activity in Delaware across its Felix legacy assets by co-developing the third Bone Spring lime at 4 wells/section and the upper Wolfcamp at 8 wells/section distributed across 2 benches. A merger of WPX and Devon Energy was announced in September with “a premium acreage position in the economic core of the Delaware Basin.”
