U.S. and Texas idled drilling rigs in the past week, according to Baker Hughes, while Permian Basin added at least one rig for the 11th straight week. As of Oct. 22, there were 268 rigs in Permian (up 1 in previous week and 135 in previous year), 249 rigs in Texas (down 1 in previous week, up 124 in previous year), 87 rigs in New Mexico (up 2 in previous week and 42 in previous year) and 542 rigs in U.S. (down 1 in previous week, up 255 in previous year).
Louisiana is No. 3 among states with 48 (up 1 in previous week) followed by Oklahoma with 43 (unchanged) and North Dakota with 22 (unchanged). Haynesville is No. 2 among regions with 46 rigs (unchanged) followed by Eagle Ford with 40 (unchanged), Marcellus with 27 (unchanged) and Williston with 23 (unchanged). Permian was the only major producing area to add rigs last week.
Lea (57 rigs), Eddy (27), Midland (23) and Reeves (23) are the top basin counties.
