Railroad Commission of Texas is encouraging contractors to enroll to receive information about the commission’s state-managed plugging program. The U.S. Department of Interior said in February about $107.5 million in federal funds is coming to Texas to cap and clean abandoned oil and gas wells in its effort to reduce emissions and improve health and safety of nearby communities. The commission will use the request-for-qualifications procurement method to select contractors. The process asks a contractor for qualifications, experience of personnel, plugging equipment, RRC district and other information.
More information is available on the RRC website. RRC said the solicitation process is expected to begin in May. Texas is one of 26 states to receive funds.
