Baker Hughes’ counts of active oil and gas drilling rigs continue to grow in Permian Basin, Texas and U.S. As of April 14, there were 334 rigs in Permian (up 2 in past week, up 107 in past year), 346 in Texas (up 4 in past week, up 132 in past year) and 693 in U.S. (up 4 in past week, up 254 in past year). The count declined by 1 rig in New Mexico in the past week to 95 (70 a year ago).
Lea (50 rigs) and Eddy (41) counties in New Mexico remain the Permian leaders, and Midland added 7 rigs in the past week to rank third with 39 rigs. Other leaders include Martin with 31, Reeves with 30, Loving with 29 and Howard with 22.
Louisiana remains No. 3 among states with 56 rigs followed by Oklahoma with 51 and North Dakota with 33. Haynesville remains No. 2 among regions with 67 rigs followed by Eagle Ford with 60, Marcellus with 37 and Williston with 34.
