Already Barnett Shale’s largest natural gas producer, Denver-based BKV Corp., subsidiary of Thai mining and power company Banpu, agreed to acquire remaining upstream and midstream assets in Barnett of ExxonMobil for $750 million plus contingent payments. ExxonMobil said May 19 the deal is expected to close in 2022Q2 and provide BKV about 160,000 net acres in Johnson, Parker and Tarrant counties, smaller positions in six other counties, more than 2,100 operated wells, and 750 miles of gathering pipelines, compression and processing infrastructure.
ExxonMobil employees will receive employment offers with BKV, which holds 292,600 net acres in Denton, Parker, Tarrant and Wise counties with current production of 550 million cfd (gross).
