Texas and U.S. posted 2022 high counts of active drilling rigs for the second straight week. Baker Hughes said as of Nov. 18 there were 349 rigs in Permian (down 1 past week, up 71 in past year), 375 in Texas (up 2 in past week, up 104 in past year), 103 in New Mexico (down 3 in past week, up 20 in past year) and 782 in U.S. (up 3 in past week, up 219 in past year). Permian high for 2022 is 351 rigs.
Oklahoma is No. 3 among states with 69 rigs (up 2 in past week) followed by Louisiana with 65 (unchanged) and North Dakota with 38 (unchanged). Eagle Ford is No. 2 among regions with 71 (unchanged) followed by Haynesville with 70 (down 1), Williston with 42 (up 1) and Marcellus with 39 (unchanged).
Two counties in New Mexico, Lea (down 2 to 60) and Eddy (down 1 to 40), continue to lead Permian Basin. Others in top five include Reeves with 38 rigs (unchanged), Martin with 37 (up 1) and Midland with 31 (unchanged).
