All seven U.S. regions post declines in drilled but uncompleted wells

October 23, 2019 by PBOG

All seven major oil- and gas-producing regions in the U.S. posted declines in the count of drilled but uncompleted wells (DUC) in September. Anadarko (down 59 DUC wells from August) and Permian (down 49 DUC wells to 3,668) led the declines from the previous month. Across the U.S., there were 7,740 DUC wells in September (47 percent in Permian) after 7,946 in August for a drop of 206.
Permian again leads in estimated crude oil production. In the latest Drilling Productivity Report Oct. 15 from U.S. Department of Energy for these seven regions, Permian is expected to produce another 63,000 barrels of crude oil per day in November to reach 4.610 million b/d. The U.S. overall gain is expected to be only 58,000 b/d in November to 8.971 million b/d from 8.913 million in October. And Appalachia and Permian continue to lead in natural gas production. Appalachia in November is expected to add another 132 million cubic feet per day to reach 33.299 billion cfd, and Permian is expected to add another 210 million cfd to reach 16.076 billion cfd (65.8 percent of new production).
