Baker Hughes: 303 active drilling rigs in Permian Basin for third straight week

Permian Basin reported 303 active drilling rigs for the third consecutive week – matching its lowest count of the year from August.  In its weekly report of Nov. 15, Baker Hughes said there were 279 rigs in Texas (down 2 from previous week, down 23 from year ago), 102 in New Mexico (up 2 in past week, down 5 from year ago) and 584 in U.S. (down 1 in past week, down 34 from year ago).

Eagle Ford in south Texas remains No. 2 among regions with 48 (unchanged in past week, down 2 in past year) followed by Williston with 35 (unchanged in past week, up 2 in past year), Haynesville with 32 (unchanged in past week, down 6 in past year) and Marcellus with 25 (up 1 in past week, down 2 in past year).  No. 3 among states is Oklahoma with 43 (down 1 in past week, up 6 in past year) followed by Louisiana with 33 (unchanged in past week, down 6 in past year) and North Dakota with 34 (unchanged in past week, up 3 in past year).

Eddy County, N.M., regained the Permian lead with 50 rigs after adding 3 in the past week.  Lea, N.M., fell by 1 to 49 rigs.  Other leaders include Midland with 30 (unchanged), Martin with 28 (unchanged), Reeves with 27 (down 1) and Loving with 22 (unchanged).  Reagan, Upton and Ward counties report 12 rigs each.
