New Mexico was the only major producing state to report additional oil and gas drilling rigs in the previous week, according to the June 17 report from Baker Hughes. New Mexico added 7 rigs to reach 110 (75 a year ago). Also, there were 345 rigs in Permian Basin (unchanged in past week, 237 a year ago), 356 in Texas (unchanged in past week, 221 a year ago) and 740 in U.S. (733 a week ago, 470 a year ago).
Louisiana remains No. 3 among states with 62 rigs (unchanged in past week) followed by Oklahoma with 59 and North Dakota with 35. Haynesville and Eagle Ford each has 69 rigs followed by Marcellus with 39 and Williston with 38.
In Permian Basin, Lea County, N.M., leads with 54 rigs (up 7 in past week) followed by Eddy, N.M., with 53 (unchanged), Midland with 40 (down 2), Martin with 31 (unchanged), Loving and Reeves each with 26, and Howard with 24.
