Services firm Baker Hughes, in its latest rig counts released Dec. 23 before the holidays, reported small increases in active drilling rigs in Permian Basin, Texas and U.S. There were 247 rigs in Permian Basin (up 1 in past week, down 57 or 18.75 percent from 304 in past year), 232 rigs in Texas (up 2 in past week, down 52 or 18.31 percent from 284 in past year) and 545 rigs in U.S. (up 3 in past week, down 44 or 7.47 percent from 589 in past year).
New Mexico reported 101 rigs (down 1 in past week, down 2 in past year).
Among states Oklahoma and Louisiana each reported 43 rigs (each added 1 in past week) followed by North Dakota with27 (unchanged in past week). And among regions, runner-up Haynesville was unchanged with 42 rigs followed by Eagle Ford in south Texas with 41 (up 2), Williston with 29 (unchanged) and Marcellus with 24 (unchanged).
