Fort Worth-based Basic Energy Services said Aug. 1 it is launching a subsidiary to transport and dispose of oilfield wastewater in Pemian Basin and other shale plays. Monroe Patterson, CEO, said Agua Libre Midstream will receive assets of Basic’s water services division, including 86 saltwater disposal wells along with wastewater pipelines across the U.S. Analyst James West of investment firm Evercore said, “The transition from fluid service trucks to pipelines has benefited Basic’s margins and reduced lease costs as the number of active fluid trucks has decreased.”
