Houston-based Birch Resources has filed permits with the Railroad Commission of Texas to develop 19 horizontal wells targeting Spraberry at depths of up to 9,100 feet on the company’s Big Jay lease near Lenorah in Martin County. Houston Chronicle said Birch has filed a total of 74 drilling permit this year – all of them targeting Spraberry in Howard or Martin counties.
The Chronicle also reported that Midland-based OGX Resources is seeking permission to drill five injection wells on its Quinn SWD leases near Big Spring targeting Spraberry to depths of 13,000 feet.
