East Daley Analytics said recently that WhiteWater Midstream received a permit from Railroad Commission of Texas March 8 to build Blackfin, a 48-inch pipeline of 193 miles from Colorado County to Jasper north of Beaumont in southeast Texas. It’s reportedly intended to intersect with and be an extension of Matterhorn Express, a 2.5 Bcfd pipeline under construction from Waha in the Permian Basin to the Katy area.
Starting west of Katy near the terminus of Kinder Morgan’s Permian Highway pipeline, Blackfin will take a northern route around the Houston metro area to Jasper as additional egress to debottleneck the Katy area and “prevent prices at Katy and the Houston ship channel from discounting.” East Daley added, “Blackfin would also help answer how Matterhorn shippers plan to move new Permian volumes further downstream.”
Matterhorn is a joint venture of WhiteWater, EnLink Midstream, Devon Energy and MPLX expected to start service in 2024Q3.
