Bureau of Land Management in U.S. Department of Interior said last week it will open an additional 50,000 acres of public land in Colorado to crude oil and natural gas producers. The agency’s Colorado office said a lease sale of 60 oil and gas parcels will be held Tuesday, Dec. 9.
The December sale will follow a successful sale in September that leased 14 parcels covering 7,895 acres for more than $6.7 million. BLM said its largest sale in more than 20 years is planned for March 2026.
BLM Colorado conducts quarterly sales as required by the Mineral Leasing Act. Bidding for Dec. 9 will occur online.
