It happens only once a year, and the date fast approaches. The Permian Basin Petroleum Association’s Sporting Clay Shoot and Pit King Challenge comes to Jake’s Clays in Midland, Texas, Aug. 11. The occasion features a morning clay shoot followed by a delicious BBQ pit cook-off lunch. This event affords a great way to meet fellow industry leaders and/or treat your team to a day of fun and fellowship.
Sponsorship opportunities close early in the month of August, so those interested should reach out to PBPA as soon as possible to make arrangements. Sponsorships include company recognition at the event and, later, in PB Oil and Gas Magazine. Registrations for teams stays open until August 7. Those interested in competing are urged to sign up as an individual or register themselves and three friends to comprise a team.
Registration includes breakfast, lunch, refreshments, merchandise items, and entry for some raffle prizes, including guns.
Awards will be given for first place, second place, third place teams, as well as HOA.
Not a shooter? Show off your skills by entering the Oil Patch Pit King Challenge and serve up your best pit delicacies at the event for a chance to be named this year’s Pit King. The Pit King Challenge is an open grill competition judged by all registered shooters. The organizers encourage competitors to bring their “A” game and expect stiff competition.
Awards for Pit Finalists include: First place—Traveling Trophy, Pit King Aprons, $500, and bragging rights; Second Place—$300; Third Place—$200.
Volunteers receive special recognition, food, drinks, and merch. For more information, contact Jamie Ramirez at jamie@pbpa.info or call her at (432) 684-6345. Jake’s Clays is located at 13301 FM 1379.
