Railroad Commission of Texas, at its meeting this week, asked the recently-appointed task force on economic recovery to study flaring. “Flaring is an ongoing problem for the oil and gas industry,” chairman Wayne Christian said Tuesday. “The problem of flaring and its perception has caused a lot of financial problems. The issue is not going to go away when the industry recovers unless we do something about it.” The task force was asked to report at the commission’s meeting June 16 “on how the commisson can better regulate flaring.”
