Commission says flaring rate in Texas continues to decline

February 3, 2022 by PBOG

Texas’ statewide flaring rate fell to another record low in November 2021, according to Railroad Commission of Texas.  The commission said Jan. 26 the percentage of natural gas flared in Texas dropped from a previous low of 0.20 percent in September to a new low of 0.19 percent in November.  Average rate of flaring has remained significantly below 2.0 percent for more than 2 years.

“Report after report shows that Texas is on the right track to reducing and maintaining low levels of flaring,” RRC chairman Wayne Christian said.  “Although the mainstream media often ignores this accomplishment by government and industry, it’s proof that a collaboration can bring positive results.”
