Enverus’ latest rig count update released this week shows the number of frac crews in Permian Basin has increase in the past week and the past year. As of Jan. 23, 2026, there were 106 crews in Permian Basin compared to 94 a week ago and 103 a year ago. Across the U.S., there were 174 frac crews compared to 160 a week ago and 176 a year ago.
ExxonMobil remains the leading operator in U.S. and Permian Basin. As of Feb. 6, ExxonMobil led the U.S. count with a weekly average of 36.6 rigs ahead of ConocoPhillips and EOG with 25.6 each, Occidental with 24.9 and Mewbourne Oil with 21.1. In the Permian Basin, ExxonMobil leads with 34.6 rigs followed by Occidental with 20.0, Diamondback with 15.0, Mewbourne with 14.7, EOG with 13.6, ConocoPhillips with 12.4, Permian Resources with 12.0, Devon with 10.9 and Coterra with 10.0.
Permian’s count of DUC wells (drilled but uncompleted) leads with 1,764 as of Jan. 23 – up from 1,761 in the past week but down from 2,643 in the past year. Also, Rockies has 655 DUC wells, and Gulf Coast has 529 – both down in the past week and year. Across the U.S., there were 3,634 DUC wells as of Jan. 23 – up from 3,615 in the past week but down from 5,148 in the past year.
