Crude oil production forecast to increase again in June

May 27, 2021 by PBOG

U.S. Energy Information Administration forecasts the second straight month of increased production of crude oil in June across seven major U.S. regions. Permian Basin is expected to add 54,000 b/d for output of 4.589 million b/d in June. Appalachia is the only other region forecast to grow oil production in June. In seven regions, crude oil production will be up 26,000 b/d to 7.733 million b/d.

Permian and Haynesville are the only regions expected to grow production of natural gas in June, according to the EIA drilling productivity report of May 17. Haynesville will be up 118 million cubic feet per day to 12.757 billion, and Permian will be up 59 million cfd to 17.553 billion cfd. Appalachia remains the gas leader with 34.237 billion cfd in June. Gas production will be down in June by 53 million cfd in seven regions to 83.571 billion cfd.

EIA said the count of DUC wells (drilled but uncompleted) continues to decline. It was at 6,857 in April – down 241 DUC wells from 7,098 in March. Permian is the DUC well leader with 2,932 in April after 3,053 in March.
