Permian Basin’s declining rig count reached 16 weeks in Baker Hughes’ weekly report of active oil and gas drilling rigs for July 2. Permian lost 5 rigs in the past week for a new total of 126 (441 a year ago). Texas was unchanged with 112 rigs (463 a year ago), New Mexico idled rigs for the eighth straight week to 48 (50 week ago, 102 year ago), and U.S. idled rigs for the 17th consecutive week to 263 (265 week ago, 963 year ago).
Rig counts in other leading states include 31 in Louisiana, 22 in Pennsylvania and 10 each in Oklahoma and North Dakota. Rig counts in other leading regions include 33 in Haynesville, 28 in Marcellus, 11 in Eagle Ford and 10 in Williston.
