U.S. Department of Energy recently authorized additional natural gas exports from planned terminals in Texas and Louisiana. The orders allow Golden Pass LNG (18 million tonne/year) in Sabine Pass near Port Arthur to export an additional 350 million cfd and Magnolia LNG (8.8 million tonne/year) in Lake Charles, La., to export an additional 150 million cfd to countries not prohibited by U.S. law. The $10 billion Golden Pass terminal, owned by ExxonMobil and Qatar Petroleum International, is under construction with first exports scheduled in 2024. Oil & Gas Journal said Golden Pass will be the eighth U.S. LNG export terminal.
