Dorf Ketal, one of the world’s leading specialty products and services companies, recently acquired Clariant’s North American Land Oil, including a manufacturing facility in Midland. After the combination of the two companies, Dorf Ketal launched DK Energy Services. The transaction of $14.5 million includes 180 employees in North America, technology portfolio of 40 patent families, and additional manufacturing units in Bakersfield, Calif., and Black Hills, Texas, that produce 2,000 chemical formulations for drilling, production and stimulation.
Amilton Tronchin, president and CEO of Dorf Ketal, told Midland Reporter Telegram after the April 3 announcement, “The specialty chemical industry is highly dynamic and constantly evolving, requiring companies to stay in the forefront of sustainability as well as innovation and technology. Dorf Ketal’s dedication to sustainability and ESG – along with our reputation for delivering innovative solutions for our customers – provides a great fit with what Clariant had established in North America.”
Brad Howell, vice president-North America for DK Energy Services, said Midland and Permian Basin are important to the company’s future growth. He added, “This location serves as a central manufacturing hub to support our North American operations… We have a fully equipped laboratory in Midland combined with an experienced technical team that serves our customers in the Permian Basin.” Conrad Keijzer, CEO of Clariant, added, “Clariant is a true specialty chemicals company whereas the North American Land Oil business is primarily a distribution and service business.”
