Oil and gas drilling resumed its steady recovery last week in Permian Basin, Texas and U.S. Baker Hughes said April 16 there were 227 rigs in Permian (224 previous week), 214 rigs in Texas (209 previous week), 70 rigs in New Mexico (unchanged) and 439 rigs in U.S. (432 previous week).
Louisiana remains No. 3 among states with 47 rigs (46 previous week) followed by Oklahoma with 21 (20 previous week) and Pennsylvania with 18 (19 previous week). Nine states have at least 10 rigs. Haynesville remains No. 2 among regions with 45 rigs (unchanged) followed by Eagle Ford with 33 (unchanged), Marcellus with 29 (30 previous week) and Williston with 15 (14 previous week).
Lea County, N.M., is the most active in Permian Basin with 42 rigs (44 previous week) followed by Eddy, N.M., with 28 (26 previous week), Midland with 25 (23 previous week), Howard, Martin and Reeves each with 20 rigs, Loving with 15 rigs, and Upton with 12 rigs.
