Minimal new drilling activity was reported by Baker Hughes for the week that ended May 27. There were 342 active rigs in Permian Basin (down 1 in past week, up 109 in past year), 358 in Texas (up 1 in past week, up 140 in past year), 98 in New Mexico (unchanged in past week, up 27 in past year) and 727 in U.S. (down 1 in past week, up 270 in past year).
Louisiana remains No. 3 among states with 61 rigs followed by Oklahoma with 59 and North Dakota with 36. Haynesville remains No. 2 among regions with 69 rigs followed by Eagle Ford with 66, Marcellus with 39 and Williston with 38. Eddy County, N.M., leads Permian with 52 rigs followed by Midland and Lea, N.M., with 41 each and Martin and Reeves with 33 each. Lea is down 4 in past week.
Enverus said May 26 leading operators in Delaware and Midland basins are Pioneer Natural Resources (25 rigs) and EOG (18). Nine operators are running at least 10 rigs. Eddy has added 23 rigs in the past year, and Midland is up by 10.
