EIA forecasts oil production of 5.579 million b/d in January in Permian

Oil production in Permian Basin and other major producing regions of U.S. continues to rise in monthly drilling productivity reports from U.S. Energy Information Administration.  EIA said in its Dec. 12 report that production for January in Permian Basin is expected to increase to 5.579 million barrels per day from 5.542 million b/d last month – an increase of 37,000 b/d.  In the seven major producing regions, total production is expected to grow from 9.225 million b/d in December to 9.319 million b/d in January.  Eagle Ford in south Texas is runner-up in the January forecast with 1.241 million b/d after 1.231 million b/d in December.

Appalachia continues to lead in production of natural gas with a January forecast of 35.530 billion cubic feet per day – up 113 million cfd from December.  Permian remains No. 2 with gas production of 21.387 billion cfd in January – up 119 million cfd since last month.  Haynesville again had the largest increase of 152 million cfd to 16.409 billion cfd in January.  January production in seven regions is forecast at 96.281 billion cfd after 95.746 billion cfd in December.

Count of DUC wells (drilled but uncompleted) declined in Permian Basin, but the total count in the seven regions was up by 22 DUC wells to 4,443 in November after 4,421 in October.  Permian reported 1,043 DUC wells in November after 1,051 in October.
