Forecast of oil production in Permian Basin by U.S. Energy Information Administration continues to increase to record levels. In the latest drilling productivity report of Aug. 15, the EIA said production in Permian is expected to reach 5.408 million barrels per day in September – an increase of 79,000 b/d from August. Across the seven major producing regions, production is forecast to top 9 million b/d in September at 9.049 million b/d after 8.908 million b/d in August. Production is forecast to grow in six of seven regions in September.
Production of natural gas also is forecast to climb in seven regions to 93.835 billion cfd in September – up 673 million cfd from 93.162 billion cfd in August. Production is forecast to grow in six of seven regions in September led by 35.486 billion cfd in Appalachia – up 154 million from August. EIA said Permian production of gas will increase 167 million cfd in September to 20.584 billion cfd.
Permian continues to lead in DUC wells (drilled but uncompleted) with 1,197 in July – down from 1,218 in June. In seven regions, there were 4,277 DUC wells in July after 4,297 in June as completion activity continues.
