Calgary-based Enbridge said last week it will expand its Gray Oak long-haul Texas pipeline that transports light crude from Crane in Permian Basin to Corpus Christi. Capacity of the 850-mile pipeline will be expanded by 120,000 barrels per day to export volumes to global markets from marine docks on the U.S. Gulf Coast. “There is a growing demand for crude oil and natural gas with producers seeking more egress,” Greg Ebel, CEO, said Aug. 2.
Ebel added, “The Gray Oak expansion will be fully online in 2026, and incremental volumes will serve our Ingleside (Energy Center), which had a record quarterly volume of crude exports and a single day loading of over 2.3 million barrels.” Crude exports from the U.S. Gulf Coast averaged 4.2 million b/d in July, according to S&P Global Commodities at Sea, and a record high 1.1 million b/d originated from Enbridge’s Ingleside terminal.
Initial service of Gray Oak started in 2019 with capacity of 900,000 b/d.
