Dallas-based Energy Transfer Partners said recently it has commitments for about 25 percent of capacity for Warrior natural gas pipeline. It’s a 260-mile pipeline from Permian Basin to Energy Transfer interconnects southwest of Fort Worth with continued transport to Gulf Coast. Mike McCrea, co-CEO and CCO, said Feb. 14 during an earnings call that the remainder of capacity is under negotiation. He said Warrior is “the best positioned of any proposed new pipeline” with access to almost every major city in the state, all major hubs and many power plants.
Plans for Warrior include repurposing underutilized pipe and building loops within existing rights of way. The company said it could complete construction within two years of reaching final investment decision.
