ExxonMobil is the leading operator in both U.S. and Permian Basin, and the industry major based in Spring, Texas, is the only top 10 operator to add working rigs in the past year. As of Aug. 22, according to Enverus, ExxonMobil had a weekly average of 37.7 active rigs – down from 39.1 the previous week but up from 35.9 a year ago. Others in the top five in the U.S. are Occidental with 26.3 rigs, ConocoPhillips with 25.4, EOG with 22.9 and Mewbourne Oil with 21.0 – all down in the past year.
In the Permian, Exxon leads with 35.6 followed by Occidental with 20.9, EOG with 15.0, Mewbourne with 14.3, ConocoPhillips with 13.6, Diamondback with 12.7 and Permian Resources with 12.0.
Of Permian’s 248.3 rigs, there were 139.0 in Delaware and 89.7 in Midland basins.
Permian Basin also leads in frac crews and DUC wells. As of Aug. 8, there were 101 crews in Permian (up from 96 the previous week and 93 a year ago) and 165 crews in U.S. (up from 164 a week ago, down from 177 a year ago). Also, there were 2,149 DUC wells in Permian Basin (up from 2,129 last week, down from 2,555 a year ago). In the U.S. there were 4,042 DUC wells compared to 3,996 a week ago and 5,228 a year ago.
