Equipping the Future Oilfield Workforce with Digital Technology

February 1, 2026 by PBOG

EZOps, a division of Detechtion Technologies and a leading provider of mobile oilfield management solutions, announced Dec. 11 a strategic partnership with Midland College to provide the EZOps Mobile Oilfield Management platform as part of the college’s Energy Technology Program. This initiative will empower students with hands-on experience using cutting-edge digital tools that streamline oilfield operations and prepare them for careers in the oilfield.

“We are excited to join forces with Midland College and invest in our future oilfield workforce by better equipping students with technology used to manage the oilfield,” said Tracy Gray, Strategic Business Director and Executive Sponsor of the EZOps Customer Advisory Board. “They will get to experience the digital side of oilfield management through the EZOps platform prior to heading to work in the patch.”

The EZOps mobile platform enables oilfield operations, both operators and oilfield service providers, to manage critical functions such as HSE, maintenance, inspections, readings, inventory, work orders, job status, and reporting/analytics—all from a single mobile offline-ready interface. EZOps also serves as the single point of entry for field data with the ability to then connect to any back-office systems. Data is entered only once by the field or consumed through SCADA removing any duplicate entries and increasing data quality.

“By integrating EZOps into Midland College’s curriculum, students will gain practical skills in digital oilfield management, positioning them to meet the industry’s growing demand for tech-savvy oilfield professionals,” said Erick Gutierrez, Professor and Chair of Energy and Technical Programs at Midland College.

In addition, Gutierrez will join EZOps’ Customer Advisory Board in bringing a unique blend of industry expertise and higher-education leadership, with his more than 14 years of experience in energy operations and workforce development. His deep understanding of operational challenges and technology adoption in the Permian Basin will provide invaluable insight to EZOps as the company continues to bring innovative, efficiency-driving solutions to the oilfield. Gutierrez will help bridge the gap between industry needs and workforce readiness, ensuring that future oilfield professionals are equipped with the tools and knowledge to drive safe, efficient, and optimized production.

The oil and gas industry is rapidly embracing digital transformation. The North American digital oilfield market, valued at $11 billion in 2024, is projected to grow at a 7 percent cumulative annual growth rate (CAGR), reaching $19 billion by 2032. Operators and service companies, especially small to midsize firms, are moving away from manual processes and fragmented systems toward integrated platforms that simplify workflows and improve operational efficiency.

By partnering with Midland College, EZOps is investing in the next generation of oilfield professionals and supporting the industry’s transition to a more connected, digital and data-driven future.
