Exxon Mobil was the top driller in Texas after filing for 659 drilling permits in 2019, Houston Chronicle reported this week, and “early in the new year, the permit filings show Exxon Mobil plans to keep that title.” The company’s shale unit, XTO Energy, filed for 15 drilling permits to develop 15 horizontal wells in Upton County targeting Spraberry field to depths of 10,850 feet.
Also in Spraberry, the Chronicle said Tulsa-based Laredo Petroleum plans to drill 12 horizontal wells in Howard County to depths of 9,000 feet.
